Theater Rehabilitation for Youth (TRY) is a Staten Island based Not-for-Profit whose mission is to use theatre arts to educate, enlighten and entertain in order to open avenues of communication and to develop positive attitudes.

Theatre Rehabilitation for Youth (TRY) was founded in May, 1984 by Pearl Tisman Minsky and Ken Berman when they opened a center in Brooklyn, NY, at the request of the NYS Division for Youth, as an out-shoot of a program at the Harlem Valley Secure Facility for Juvenile Offenders.

The agency was designated as a non-profit that year and expanded its services to hold its workshop programs and performances at many sites including alternative schools, drop-out prevention programs, welfare motels, community centers,
half-way houses, drug rehabilitation programs, public schools, after school centers, prisons and many others.

In addition to its above mentioned services, TRY is currently creating shows relevant to today's youth - such as bullying.  Utilizing the talent of individuals of all ages and abilities, TRY performs these shows at local schools.
TRY is the recipient of numerous community service awards.

TestimonialsSTATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A thank you and shout out to members of Theater Rehabilitation for Youth (T.R.Y.) who’ve been visiting our borough’s intermediate schools to educate students about the serious problem of bullying.
